The employees were helpful and one employee helped me select a bracelet for my wife for our upcoming anniversary. She is extremely difficult to shop for. I explained her likes and dislikes and was promptly shown three possibilities by the courteous salesperson. The service was quick, painless, and very professional. Unlike other vacation destination stores the price was extremely reasonable (Try Carmel, California. One gift from that little village and you won't have any money left to get back home.) I would have no hesitation shopping at Tomahawk River Traders again.
On Saturday it was particularly cold and our vacation came to a brief stop. I took the opportunity to do some shopping. Now, it must be said I dislike shopping, particularly on vacation. I bought some magazines, visited the Apple Store for a part I needed. I then went into Tomahawk River Traders hoping to find a unique Northwoods anniversary gift for my wife.
Amazing selection! Fun ideas. Great prices - similar items cost more online even if you buy in bulk.
I think that Tomahawk River Traders is the best bead store I've ever been to. I disagree 100% with the other review. The employees are helpful and friendly and the merchandise is very reasonable. I know for a fact that they don't sell 4mm Moonstone beads because I asked an employee about them. As for the question, 'Why is everything locked up?' obviously the owners put everything in cases so no one will steal the beads. Why is it such a big deal that you have to ask to see the items? As I stated previously, the workers are very nice and willing to advise and help you. And about the return/exchange policy: That is a bit annoying but it's probably in place because the majority of the items in the store are around $1.00. Why would someone want to return a $1.00 bead? As for the $29.00 incident, the blame lies only with the customer. I was very surprised and disappointed to see the other review. The person who published that review must have a bias against this store. That other review is a load of rubbish. Tomahawk Rivers Traders is (as I said above) an excellent shop. If you are looking for a store with a wide variety of reasonably priced beads, clothing, cabin decor, etc., this is the place to go. I highly recommend that you stop in if you are ever in the neighborhood.
